'Reflections'
This exhibition was part of the Scottish Festival of Architecture during the Year of Innovation, Design and Architecture 2016. It showcased an installation of a ‘glass studio’ with work in progress, catching the light and reflecting on nearly two decades of ‘making’ with glass.”
The exhibition also showcased the work of other craft based businesses who work with architecture. RealWood studios, based in the Scottish Borders, work sustainably with timber. Ratho Byre, based on the outskirts of Edinburgh work on large scale sculptural metal projects. The Lime Centre based in Fife, use traditional lime render techniques to clad buildings, and finally Graciela Ainsworth stone workshop repair and make stone sculptures. These businesses showcased both traditional and contemporary ways of working with materials.
The exhibition ran from 14-24 May 2016 at Gayfield Creative Spaces in Edinburgh during the Festival of Architecture 2016 and was opened during the centenary conference of the RIAS (Royal Institute of Architects in Scotland).
