In November 2015, together with some fellow artists, I organised a film screening and walk as part of the global ArtCOP2015, a global movement of grassroots activity which took place to raise awareness and visibility of the summit which was organised to coincide with the UN Climate Change summit (COP21) in Paris from 30th November until 11th December 2015. A series of Climate Change Marches took place across the world during the weekend of 28/29th November 2015. The two events in the Borders were part of this broader context.
On Saturday 5th December, a screening of the ‘This Changes Everything’ documentary, named after the eponymous book by Naomi Klein (2012) was hosted at Macarts in Galashiels. These screenings were also part of a global series and was the only one at the time to be screened in Scotland. After the screening a short programme of discussion took place, and showcased examples of projects from around the world.
On 12th of December, on the conclusion of the COP21, we also organised a 'Walk into the Heart of the Borders' were we had invited the general public to come on a walk and join us soon. dreich and grey day to form a heart in the landscape, filmed by drone by filmmaker Jason Baxter: you can see the resulting photographs here.
